Man on the Moon

Some random thoughts or observances:

Sometimes I feel like I have misplaced my life, let me know if you find it.....

I have added two more items to a non-existant list of things to do: watch a space shuttle launch and ice skate in Rockefeller Center....

I am shooting a lot of high school basketball games, for money, and it is weird to be in that atmosphere....

One day I turned on my car and the smell of baked apples came out of my air condition, i wish it would do it again....

A few days ago I was opening a box of Staples brand paper clips to get only one out. When I opened the top, one clip was attached and flew out with it into my hand. Without thinking about being funny I said aloud to myself "That was easy" - it'll make sense the next time you see a Staples commercial if you are lost. No one was around to witness that however....

Talking to other people about being in a band or talking to other people about other bands from the perspective of being in a band is just not worth it and should only be done at your own risk....

In all those years of of being in a band, only one person, who recently listened to our music for the first time, asked me if we were anti-religion. This came from someone who I am %95 sure is a Christian. I applaud though that she was not taking us at face value but being bold enough to ask the question - i guess in a way that is the best reaction one could want....

No, we were not anti-religion....

I watched "Man On The Moon", the film about comedian Andy Kaufman, tonight. I would greatly recommend it, apparently the man was an evil comic genius and one of the producers described his style as "deconstructionist comedy"....

I played with one of the new Zune's today and was really impressed. It may not be able to kill the iPod but it definitely is a rival. I think after a few upgrades to it will be even much more impressive. It's screen is stunning and the way the screen art looks for all its functions one ups the iPod. The fact that it also offers wireless functions, as limited and ridiculous they may be right now, makes one start to think about what could be coming in the future for both Zune and iPod as they turn the Mp3 player business into what Cannon and Nikon have done for cameras. What I really want to say is that, for me being an Apple fan, i was really thinking about getting a Zune (the brown, i think, is sweet!) until I found out that it is closed platform and proprietary. Oh yes, it works with iTunes, but you need to install Zune software to sync it and utilize all its functions, and that software is only available for PC. I do find humor in the fact that an Apple fan is blocked platform and proprietary issues, I must say. I am now afraid to get an iPod for fear of what the new one will be like in a few months. I believe that, by judging by what the other large capacity media players offer currently, the iPod will be very different...

For the love of all-in-one devices, put that freakin' radio INSIDE the iPod, Steve....

I joined Netflix. On movie #2. If you don't know, you can rate movies you have seen and Netflix will then make movie suggestions based on how you have rated stated seen movies. Here is what Netflix has suggested to me...Ahem...."Independence Day", "i, Robot", "The Royal Tenenbaums", "The Rock", "John Q.", "Taxi Driver", "Air Force One", "Men of Honor", "Citizen Kane", "Being John Malkovich", "U.S. Marshalls", "Rush Hour 2", "The Mummy Returns", "A Clockwork Orange", and...very funnily...."Stepmom". Is there something about that movie that I don't understand? Is there a half crazed Robert Deniro in "Stepmom"? Or is there a secret portal that Julia Roberts has to go through to save the world from biological destruction and thus gain the respect of her step daughter? Honestly, the only connect I see between all the movies and that lone one is the relation between the words 'mummy' and 'mom'. Soooo, Netflix has a sense of humor, eh? Maybe this is the first sign of an artificial intelligence that exists on the world wide web and has access to all our networked computers and whom holds the key to Faster Than Light Travel in her cyber-brain. Oh, I just let my nerdness slip. Can you pinpoint from whence my nerdness came? Recent roommates and band members cannot play? <---Why was that a question?

Oh, and her name is Jane. And I imagine her sounding like MI-chelle Norris.

Oh, Oh, if you wanna catch the first glimpse of the Halo 3 trailer you have to watch Monday Night Football next week, and afterwards watch it on YouTube 17 times...well, it's probably already there....because of Jane.

"And all will bow, the King they'll crown
My hope is found, my hope is found
In you alone and on the throne,
Now all will know, now all will know.
And all will see the mystery
Revealed in me, revealed in me.
Thy grace endows the eye with thou,
And all will bow, and all will bow!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah...."

The lyrics above are from the third part of Hope Dialect's "Dante Trilogy" - they are some of my favorite that Art has ever written. I must say that Art has been one of my favorite lyricists, so in that respect it has been an honor to play with him. And I will get to once again. Yes, I will be playing with Hope Dialect at the above mentioned show in Jackson. We are all REALLY looking forward to it, as it will be an epic show with a few "guest" appearances and songs we have not played since forever and a day. I am looking to hearing Asfollows again as well. So, this is the last time I'll say this (and I mean beg): I would love to see everyone there Friday night, as we want to properly thank everyone who inspired us to take our music to new heights. And it is not to late to bring first timer friends who are pre-fans.

Oh and by the way, BRAND NEW recordings of "Song for Paul", "Come Take My Hand", and "Dante Trilogy" are available for download at www.myspace.com/hopedialect.

Ok, see you guys friday. RRAAAAGHHHH!

Who wants to download a searchable 3-D map of a mouse brain? Read the article and then go play with the brain.

There should be only one radio station...NPR. I think I am gonna home school my kids using only NPR programming. Your kids won't stand a chance.
